JAMES MATTHEWS HANNAH, member of the County Board of Education, was born in Cherokee County, the son of Samuel and Louisa (Morgan) Hannah. He married Theodosia Bothwell, daughter of James E. and Martha (Mountain) Bothwell, and granddaughter of Thomas and Mary Mountain of Georgia. He served as a justice of the peace.
When he died in 1924 he was on the Board of Education. The meetings were characterized during his chairmanship of the board by the good spirit of cooperation. Every meeting was opened with prayer.
Frank Hannah, Leesburg, and Kitty Hannah Killingsworth are children of James Matthews Hannah.
