Notes | The 1900 U. S. census, Bell County, Texas, Rogerstown (ED 22, SD 10, sheet 1B, p. 166, dwelling 108, family 108, National Archives microfilm T623-1610), shows Jesse C. Elmore, age 30 (born November 1869 in Texas), a barber, with wife, Mary E., age 27 (born August 1872 in Arkansas), with four children, all born in Texas: Pearl, age nine (born November 1890); son Dee, age seven (born December 1892), Irma, age five (born July 1894), and Tennie, age two (born January 1898). Mr. Elmore’s parents were both Mississippians. Mrs. Elmore’s father was born in Tennessee and her mother in Arkansas. Also living with the family was Russell Jarrell, a 48 year-old boarder (born January 1852 in Georgia). The 1910 U. S. Census of Milam County, Texas (ED 69, SD 6, sheet 7, p. 94, dwelling 108, family 108; NA microfilm T624-1578) shows Lafayette Elmore, age 40, with wife Mary E., age 37; children Pearl, 19; Dee, 17; Irma, 14; Tinny, 12; Mertle, 9; Oran, 6; Thula, 4; and Letha, 1. The couple had been married 20 years. She had given birth to eight children, all of whom were living. Mr. Elmore was a farmer. |
