Notes Ambrose Alexander Timmons was born 9 August 1844 in Cherokee County, Georgia. He was a little over 16 when he enlisted in the Confederate army as a “Georgia Volunteer” under Capt. McCreary, 16th Georgia Infantry. He was wounded in battle at Knoxville. Following the war A. A. Timmons came to Young County, Texas, where he married Miss Mary Howard in April of 1873. They had nine children. Mr. Timmons died 9 September 1912 in Tonk Valley, Young County, Texas.
