Robert LOVE of Haywood Co. my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name & behalf to [illegible] from John STROTHER or his lawful agent a quit claim deed of conveyance to the whole of his part of the tract whereon Martin BUFF now lives on Richland Creek of Pigeon River Also the said John STROTHER’s quit claim deed to all that part of a tract of land lying on the E side of said Richland Creeke granted to said STROTHER which includes the place whereon John HOWELL now lives. Also a quit claim Deed of conveyance from the said STROTHER for his part of 500 acres granted to the said DOBSON and STROTHER on the S side of Pigeon River which includes the place whereon Jonathan OSBORN now lives except 100 acres of said grant to be laid off next and adjoining to a 200 acre tract of Robert LOVEs which includes the mouth of Richland creek after the said STROTHER or his agent hath given such quit claims to me. I do further authorize and [illegible] my said attorney to convey the lands this quit claimed to me to the said Martin BUFF John HOWELL and Jonathan OSBORN and their assigns the respective tracts of land this quit claim and to each of them Separately to include the places whereon they each lived and I do further authorize and impower my said attorney for me & in my name to quit claim to and assign over to John STROTHER his heirs or assigns any lands which may jointly granted to myself & the said John STROTHER… 5 Apr. 1809. Indenture, 20 Sep. 1807, between Richard MORROW of the Co. of Buncombe and Edward CHASTAIN of Co. aforesaid witnesseth That and for in consideration of the sum of $135 to him the said Richard MORROW paid by the said Edward CHASTAIN at and before the Sealing and signing of these presents the receipt and payment whereof I do hereby acknowledge for myself my heirs do hereby bargain sell and confirm unto him a parcel of land in the Co. aforesaid being as follows 100 acres of land joining the upper end of William BRYSON’s 300 acre tract and the lower end of his own that includes Indian Johns improvement. Which said piece or parcel of land with CALLAWAYs woods waters and Every other appurtenances thereunto beginning or appertaining. I have hereby for myself my heirs Exectors and administrators sold. Indenture, 24 Oct. 1808, between Nathaniel ALMAN of the Co. of Buncombe and Robert MARTIN, for consideration of the sum of $200 paid by said Robert MARTIN whereof Nathaniel ALMAN doth hereby acknowledge and doth by the presents sell alien and convey and confirm unto him the said Robert MARTIN his heirs and assigns a certain parcel of land containing 100 acres situated in the Co. of Buncombe on the waters of Pigeon River adoining Edward PYBURN on the W side. Beginning at this SW corner running his line N 50 poles to a small post or white oak thence W 148 poles to three small hickorys thence S 107 poles to a stake thence E 128 poles to a stake thence W 57 to a hickory thence to the beginning the same being a part of a large tract of land originally granted to David ALLISON for 250,240 acres of which said tract of land was sold by James HUGHEY high Sheriff of Buncombe aforesaid to satisfy the public and county tax for the year 1796 as will more fully appear by the said Sheriffs deed to John STROTHER therefor (which deed beares date 29 Sep. 1798 and is Registered in the Registers office of Buncombe Co. aforesaid 29 Dec. 1798. Indenture, 31 Oct. 1808, between Benjamin PARKS of Co. of Buncombe and Jessee McFARLAND of the same Co. The said Benjamin PARKS in consideration of the sum of $90 paid by said Jessee McFARLAND the receipt whereof is here by acknowledged have granted Bargained sold a certain tract or parcel of land in the Co. of Buncombe on the Ravins fork above Jacob MINGUS including the place called Plumb orchard. Indenture, 18 Aug. 1808, between John WILSON of the Co. of Lincoln in the State of North Carolina and Robert PENLAND of the Co. of Buncombe and state aforesaid. The said John WILSON for and in consideration of the sum of $800 to him paid by the said John WILSON doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained and sold unto the said Robert PENLAND his heirs and assigns forever all that tract and parcel of land lying in the Co. of Buncombe on Crystal Creek the waters of Pigeon river. The said Joseph DOBSON in consideration of the sum of $450 paid by the said Jacob SHOOK, conveyed a tract of land lying in Buncombe Co. on the SW side of Pigeon River. Indenture, 4 Aug. 1803, between Spencer RICE and John BELLAH, both of Buncombe Co. In consideration of $100, Spencer RICE conveyed a parcel containing 70 acres more or less lying in the aforesaid Co. on the waters of Pigeon River and on the eastside bounded by lands of said RICE, William CATHEY, Junior, and MEHAFFEY. In consideration of the sum of $250 paid by said Robert LOVE, the said John STROTHER conveys a parcel of land containing 317 acres lying in Haywood Co., on the waters of Richland Creek. Beginning at a small oak near a marked Hickory on the side of a ridge and runs N 220 poles to a white oak on a ridge which stands W 60 poles from Joseph TURNER’s corner then W 108 poles to a locust 12 poles S of Richland Creek in a line of CHAMBERS survey now said LOVE’s land there with said line S crossing two branches 190 poles to a white oak on a ridge Corner to CHAMBERS survey then W with the other line of the CHAMBERS survey 68 poles to a stake where said line intersects the line of a tract of 200 acres survey. Granted to sd. LOVE & John DAVIDSON & with sd. line 98 poles to a hickory corner to sd. tract then with said line W over 145 poles crossing CHAMBERS Creek to a small hickory then E passing a hickory Corner to the FURGUSES survey at 15 poles Crossing CHAMBERS Creek 195 poles to a stake and from thence to the beginning.
