DEACON JASPER HOWARD was born in Shelby county, Alabama, September 31, 1835; came to Texas in 1844. His parents, who were anti-mission Baptists, settled in Nacogdoches county, Texas, in that year. Jasper H. was born from above in 1862, and was baptized into the fellowship of Galveston church. Brother Howard moved to Parker county, Texas, in 1865, and united with Bethel church. From Parker county he moved to Falls, from Falls to Limestone. He was ordained deacon by Horn Hill church in 1877. From Horn Hill he moved to Groesbeck, and from Groesbeck to Mart. He became a member and deacon of Mart church in May, 1883. He is still an honored deacon of Mart. He is a man of strong convictions, and he has the courage to express them. He is a zealous supporter of his church, and he believes in carrying the gospel into all the world. The “good degree and great boldness in the faith” are his reward.
